View Full Version : Male body modeling wip
FabioMSilva 09-02-2004, 04:15 PM Here´s the starting of a new model im making. But since i´m not very good at modeling, i hope u guys can gimme some tips and point me the issues of my character. THe character i´m making is pretty strong, so i´m making him with a well worked body(phearhaps too much, but that i´ll tweak later) Also, since he´s going to have boots, i´m thinking of not modeling the toes.

You must work with anatomy references , there is the best way to make a good job .

well, get bridgemans books, go to fineart.sk And also go to http://www.tsofa.com/?members also and look under the program guide, from the looks of it you have much to learn

sorry for not repplying sooner OptimusDinkus. I wasnt home. Thanx for the site. It seems useful.
well everyone, while i was away, i got the chance to improve(i think) the body model, as well to start modeling a head for it.
here are the updates
http://pwp.netcabo.pt/0257549601/cgtalk/toga/body_no_textures.jpg
http://pwp.netcabo.pt/0257549601/cgtalk/toga/body_Front_no_textures.jpg

http://pwp.netcabo.pt/0257549601/cgtalk/toga/body_back_no_textures.jpg (i havent done anything in the back yet at all  )
Here´s the head...i was away with no internet, no cgtalk, and no tutorials...so i got a little bit confused when i arrived at the important parts such as the mouth, nose , and specially the eyes which i dont know how to model them particularly...(phearps u guys can give some suggestions:) )...please tell what it looks like, what is okay and what it is not.

http://pwp.netcabo.pt/0257549601/cgtalk/toga/head_up.jpg
and finnaly, here´s just a little test i made to see if i could weld it correctly, and to see the head(the starting of the head) proportion in relation to the body size http://pwp.netcabo.pt/0257549601/cgtalk/toga/head_proportion_test.jpg

Body is coming along nicely. Is it me or do the legs look a little stumpy?
FabioMSilva

what means "stumpy" ? Blocky maybe?

some update on the head. Its currently 404 polygons(pretty low for an high-poly head i guess :curious: ) without meshsmooth. With meshmooth with 2 iterations its about 6000.
about the body, the legs proportion seem to be correct. I´ve made a biped 182 centimeters tall(the exact size of the model with head on) and the biped legs are in correctly aligned with the model.:)

here´s another update. Added some armor(not yet complete) and the fur. Gee...the clothing is gonna be hell:sad:
http://pwp.netcabo.pt/0257549601/cgtalk/furtest3.jpg
http://pwp.netcabo.pt/0257549601/cgtalk/armor.jpg (wonder if the armor is better this way)
here´s a a sketch of the model i´m making.
http://pwp.netcabo.pt/0257549601/cgtalk/toga.jpg
critics are welcome as always:)(especially on the armor)(when my danm server comes back online:rolleyes: ). I dont need to have him to be exacly the same as in the sketch, i want him to be the coolest possible, even if that gets a bit away from the artwork.
Anyway , please critique.

Yeah, it's cool, now we can see pictures.
The hands are very cool.
I think that the fur must be more unified (i don't know if it's just - sorry for my english  )
I would say that on the sketch the fur is a only mass.
I don't know if you understand what i say.

The head is too large on top. i don't know how to say.
The bottom is cool.
