Hey guys,

Can someone give me a quick refresher. In maya, I used to make a model and then I "flattened" it so that i could take it into photoshop and draw a texture straight on it. Unfortunately I've completely forgotten the interface on how to get the model "flattened" and then into photoshop. Can someone help me out? I'd really appreciate it, thanks.

Are you still using Maya?
If you are, then I'm not sure exactly how to do this in Maya, but basically what you are needing to do is to unwrap the UVs.
Browse through the UV mapping tutorial thread at the top of this forum, I'm sure you will find what you are looking for ;)

hi leight, thanks a lot, i havn't had time to read through the whole thing since I discovered it, great stuff. I found the correct terminology for what I was looking for, I was at a loss for words yesterday. I was referring to unwrapping UVs and then exporting into photoshop; you mention it but I was just wondering if anyone knew how to do it in Maya. Its an annoying little tidbit i can't seem to remember, texturing's never been my strongest point. Is anything coming back to you? :)

Anyhow...this tutorial is awesome, I hope you don't mind if I make copies of it for a computer graphics class I'm TAing for, it puts complicated issues in a nutshell, full credit to you obviously. Thanks :buttrock:
