View Full Version : Edge Loops
Branko 08-31-2004, 11:52 PM Can anyone please explain to me what edge loops are exactly?
I hear people refer to it/them, but can't fine any descriptions under Maya's index, etc..
Is it a form of modelling, or is it a tool? Why are people so excited when a script comes out that allows you the ability to select them?! These questions and more, plague me!
I've been doing Maya for 3 years now and haven't yet come accross them...psych! Obviously I'm just starting ;P
Anyways, any attempts at explaining this to me would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

I think the edge loop mainly refer to the Border or the loop edges just like nurbs u v iso.
Some scripts let you select an adge loop at once, not select them individualy. sorry my poor english.

edgeloops are exactly what their name says they are. they are mostly used on polygonal head modelling around the eyes and mouth where u need to form a circular pattern of faces for better deformation of that area. its not a tool, its just the way u approach the splitting of faces on ur model to better mimick the real muscle patterns of the face.... in a loop around the eye or mouth.
hope that helped.
