Hi there -

Ive got this problem where I am trying to link a Bipeds hands to several different objects during the course of an animation..

Biped only likes the hands to be linked to one object so Iv'e linked them to dummies that have a link constraint controller. These dummies are then linked to the nessesary objects...

It's kind of painfull particularly when retiming animation and I was wondering what methods other people use...

Thanks -

I use bones, not biped, but I pretty much do the same thing. Hand control linked to a dummy with a link constraint.

Read up on Character Studios IK blending, it supports more than one object.

Ahh, in the character studio manual it says-

Note that only one Object Space Object can be defined for the hand. You can not change from one Object space object to another during the animation..

I just wanted to know how other people got around this problem when animating a character that interacts with several moving objects in a scene.

I have a method as I explained in the initial post but its not to flexible when you start tweaking the timing of your character.

I do the same with the dummys, if its an object that doesnt move I usually connect it with a link control to the bip, and not the other way around.
or I just start a new scene
every time I need the bip IK to connect to something else.
