View Full Version : *.tif's in photoshop cs??
sebast1an2 08-31-2004, 08:55 AM Hi, I don't know what the hack is with this damn program.. I've done a lot of work with alpha channels in combustion & after effects, but no I opened the first time a *.tif in photoshop and can't find the right menu to show the alpha channel.. The channel is just there, I can see it in the windows preview but it doesn't show up in photohop..
can anyone tell me where I can find this hidden option in PS?:scream: thx a lot!

There is a channels palette in PS. It should be right where all the other palettes are ... (windows?) It'll show you all the color channels as well as alpha. If you alt-click on the alpha you'll see it.
Hope this helps,

hmm, thx a lot... maybe this is the only problem, because I already tried to "activate" this channel by klicking on it, but it only turns the channel to red and I still can't see the transparency in the pallete view... could this be a bug or something?? really strange...

If you want to have transparency in the photoshop file you need to double click the background layer, press okay (this turns the background layer into a regular one) then "load selection" from the selection menu (i hope the english terms are right, my PS is german) and choose alpha 1. Now you should have a selection that's equal to your alpha. Hit delete and it should be transparent.
Hope this helps!
