I'm a newcomer to PS and am trying to emulate painting. I never was that good at painting in real life (in terms of blending colours and applying them to the canvas), but I wasn't bad either. Many people say that I'm too critical of myself, so maybe I'm better than I think, but anyhow...
My method in PS so far has been to put general splotches of colour (depending on what the thing is, deep water, shallow water, grass, etc.) very roughly (not accurately is what I mean) on the document, and then just basically smudge it all together, then add more splotches of colour, blend, etc.
Later, I try and get into details, usually not done well, but anyhow.
Sorry if this post is very verbose, but I want to get good at creating what I imagined, without it turning out way different. Are there any tutorials that talk specifically on painting in PS? I saw the sticky on PS tutorials, but they're usually very specific and talk about things like "make bubble letters", etc.
Most of you are probably thinking: "wow, this guy is so lost, and he talks about his technique like it's something good". My technique isn't even a technique really, I think it's a bad way of doing things. I just stated it so you guys know where I stand in terms of lack of skill. I'm just looking for sources to learn how to do this stuff better. If anyone could help me out in any way, I'd appreciate it.
