Great work!
The reflection of the cannon blast on the water should be a bit lower to match the perspective, and maybe add more reflections here and there. Otherwise..

I think the image is fantastic a really nice sense of mood. The only thing i would change is their needs to be more wake around the hull of the boat as it intersects the water.
I feel this would help connect the boat to the water better and make it seem less like it's floating.

But apart from that it's ace.:applause:

Hi all. I am quite suprised to get so many great replys. Thank you all. Certainly it is a great honour for me that i recieved cg choice award. I didnd expect that, because i have started with painting only half year ago.
Im immediately starting to work on another picture, this time something sci-fi.

I read this book a while back....

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0684179180/qid=1093962015/sr=1-2/ref=sr_1_2/104-1293278-0675962?v=glance&s=books

...and always wondered how the final battle looked. Now I know. Awesome painting! It's not clear though that the barge thingy that's loaded with just canons is being towed by the tireme - it looks like another ship. The foreground ship is cool though I didn't remember any mention of canons on the forecastle on tiremes. I guess that is the aritist's priviledge - too embellish. Still really cool painting. And if anyone is interested, the book I cited is spectactular - it reads like a novel not a history book.

Great great great.

Even though I am from the country who lost the battle, I still can not help but only admire the beauty.

You must have perfect perception. In my opinion it is really impossible to apply the color, shading, texture with 2d program into such a scene so nicely.

Only like in previous posts, I think the ship sshould be more connected to the water. It is like hovering but only a minor detail in the whole picture.

Great work man. I wish I could do this with 2D even though I am really ood with Photoshop this is not my turf.

But would love to construct the scene in 3D. It would be a great work.

see you...
