The ink'n'paint shader is very basic and low-end, but can be enough if you just want something simple or to make a test. (look in the material section of the help file for details)

For something sophisticated you might need to go for commercial products (illustrate, cartoon reyes.. another which I don't remember the name...)

I wonder if Mental Ray has cell shaders ?

if you dl the mental ray material pack off of the MR discussion, then could try out the cell shdaders in there. I use finaltoon, and havent tried anything else just yet. there are some examples in my robot WIP (see sig link). happy shading http://cgtalk.com/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif

I've compiled most of my scenes from the MR thread and added some new ones. When I get time, I'll add tutorials, etc. But for now, it's just the scenes to learn from.
