Hi all...
The following pieces are actually considered 'finished' by me albeit black & white. However I was somewhat overwhelmed by the level of 'finished' in the finished work sub-forum ...so yeah I suppose I just put them here ;)

These are a bunch of pictures that I made up fairly quickly (about 1 hr each, sketching, pencilling and inking) for a presentation to a client.

comments, ideas, suggestion, critiques etc ... always welcomehttp://www.xngo.com/upload_2d/ink_knightlord.gifhttp://www.xngo.com/upload_2d/ink_dwarvenchief.gifhttp://www.xngo.com/upload_2d/ink_wuzwolf.gifhttp://www.xngo.com/upload_2d/ink_turtletrooper.gifhttp://www.xngo.com/upload_2d/ink_kinggriffon.gif

Nice Lineart, xngo. It looks very clean and simple. Perhaps it could be considered finished, depending on what you,re looking to accomplish. You may also consider adding more lines of detail, crosshatching etc. to accentuate your lineart (it would then lose it's simplicity (which may have been your goal...)), or you might want to color it. If you're planning to color it, there are plenty of good coloring tutorials for photoshop (and painter), so just look around on the forums for one.

BTW, my favorite it the turtle trooper... Really well done! - It reminds me of a koopa troopa to some extent :P

Good luck,

I agree with DMage -- very nice lineart with a clean look. I like it as a black & white, but it needs more contrast. Please don't use crosshatching -- IMO it will spoil the clean look you've already achieved. Look for accessories in your pictures that can be filled in black such as Griffon's arm band and some of its feathers, the Wuzwolf's pants, ets. I read somewhere that a well inked picture should approach 50/50 ratio of white to black.

Here's a couple of extra crits for what they're worth --
Dwarven Chief has his big toe exposed on each foot. Are the others covered or missing?
Wuzwolf's back is extremely curved as though he's a hunchback. Looks uncomfortable.
If Turtle Trooper's gun has any recoil, he's going to roll backward any time he shoots it. Also, it's probably hard to carry as it won't fit into his shell. Why not mount a gun directly to his shell? Just a thought. :)

Anyway, you've got some great characters and they're well drawn. Looking to see more from them, and more creations from you!

Thanks DMageXVII & Ilikesoup for your kind comments

I'm trying to avoid adding more details for mainly two reasons ...firstly I'm kinda hopeless at it ;) ... well not really it's just that I haven't used it much for quite awhile. Secondly I needed to show the clients that the characters are animatable (that's what they were after anyway, apart from the illustration)...so they'd like to see really clean lines.

The Dwarven Chief's is wearing a big toe-exposing boot! :D ... yeah was just experimenting with it hahaha. The idea for Wuzwolf is he's actually a wuss (wuss=wuz, getit?) hence the duality of him being both rather harmless and menacing...
as for the Turtle Trooper... yeah I just had this vision about him and had to draw him there and then..besides it's fantasy right, I suppose no one cares where one packs his/her weapon? hehehe
anyway thanks for your input ... I'd sure put more thoughts on my characters in the future :)
