I create these little characters for the third 3D Attack Speedy Modeling Challenge. I think they're so pretty to have more adventures so I open this WIP to give some update about them... Thanks to follow.

For the technic, I used some Xpresso to glue spline point to null with the hand, or the foot inside ). I had just to displace and the spline follow. I adjust manually the points inside. So many fresnel on textures in luminance channel and a hard work to light corrctly the scene ( for my taste, I hope you like ). I used too clothilde to make the pillow ( arggg... 30 seconds to modeling it ! )

But it was bad works, so I will add some new features for control expression ( more Xpresso to pilot arms and legs, Facial morpher with more expressions, bones to bend the body ) and some others objects to give a full world for them.

Thank you Flingster ! :)

Hello Bart, no time to say how I very enjoyed to meet you in formation. Yes, for the pillow, Marcus Spranger did a good job, I dit it in one try ( Ok, it was not difficult ! ). Finallly, your pig wear something ??

Yes I too love the color and facial expressions and story. So seemingly simple yet so perfectly complete. Just really nice.

Thanks MJV !

On 3D Attack, Sad ask me for the pillow, I've make this tutorial, hope you like it !

CLOTHILDE TUTORIAL : How to make a pillow ?

Introduction :
Marcus Spranger from Maxon explain to us in formation this really nice tricks. So this little tutorial is totally inspired by his method. Thanks Marcus, but now it's time for me to appear like a C4D genius.

:D

1 - Ok, here we go. Place your best sphere, and two plans ( up and bottom of the sphere - be sure they're not in collision ). Convert them to polygon objects, the sphere too. Go to the edge mode. Now, try to use the V key to prompt the new node menu, it's more fast. In "Selection" menu, choose " Outline Selection " and select the two plans borders ( as you know certainly, in R9, we can select all what we want event the objects are not connected ).

http://perso.club-internet.fr/analev/ordinaire/fc4d/ringbelle/tutpillow1.gif

2 - Always with the V Key, now choose : " Structure : Stitch and Sew ". Select the point on up plane in the bottom left angle and with the mouse hold, drag to the same in bottom plane, use the Shift Key to force the right sew.

3 - Connect the two planes, a plane 2 appear, and you can erase the originals planes. With the polygon mode, select all the polygons and use the function "optimise" the object to prevent the polygon split. Use the loop selection to select all the side polygons.

http://perso.club-internet.fr/analev/ordinaire/fc4d/ringbelle/tutpillow2.gif

4 - Now the Magic effect with CLOTHILDE. In Object Manger, open the file Menu : In C4D Tags : Find Clothilde Tags. Add a Cloth Tag to the plane 2 object and Collider Tag to the sphere. Click on the Cloth Tag. On the Dresser Menu, be sure the sides are always selected, in "Seam Poly", click to set. The polygones appear with a yellow cross on it.

5 - Click to " Dress-o-matic ", to make the pillow. That's all !.

Aurety, c'est plus simple de prendre un cube sudivisé pour la taie.

It's easier to use a subdivided cube for the pillowcase. This way you don't have to stitch and sew.

BaRa

Hi Bramello, would you mind if you give some more details about that??? I can't figure out what you mean... Thanks!!Instead of taking two planes and stitch-and-sewing them and then running the optimize command, you might simply use a cube with 20 X segments and 20 Z segements and make it editable. You would end up with the same geometry, but much faster.

Don't worry, the first time I showed the pillow construction to an audience I didn't realize it either. It was one of the visitors that made the cube remark. Nice to have such an attentive audience ;)

Cheers,
BaRa

that really cool, normally I used only splines and loft nurbs, but this tecnique is really practic.

this is really nice! I first didn´t realize why he takes the pillow and doesn´t put it on his chair, but then.... really good!
And a nice technique for the pillow also. Thanks for sharing!

Howdy,

I like it. Very funny :scream: It typically shows the difference between boys and girls.

Thanks for the tip on the pillow, too. That will come in handy.

Adios,

Using a collsion object is nice and simple when you want to apply deformations and dynamics as you can perform some simple squash and other deforms on the one object.

Versatility... gives you an option.

 hello, I have been desperately seeking for an animation the way to attach a spline to an object, to animate a keychain... you mention doing such in the animation to attach the cable to the glass... i guess it something basic if you dont stop to speak about it but i have not been able to find information on any of the manuals from c4d.. hould you mind pointing me the way?

thanks!

if i understand your question correctly, there's a thread here, and some sample xpresso about attaching a plug to a cable, which i think is the same.
