View Full Version : Beast Rider WIP
jbradford 08-26-2004, 11:12 AM I've always wanted to do some kind of beast with rider type of model, and also lately thinking of doing a model not based off my own concept again. So as I was looking through my "Art of Star Wars II" book, I came across this awesome concept. I don't remember that it ever made it into the movie, I think it was just a pre-concept that got thrown out. Anyways I thought I would start a thread on it, modeling is getting there, comments and suggestions are welcome!

agreed. it'd be nice to see the concept you're working from. scan and post? meantime, the modelling looks good. only major suggestion would be that that beasts torso would weigh a tonne, but the legs aren't really showing us that weight. either more shoulder muscle (or greater diameter), or more bend in the knees (aligator style) might help convey the weight.
keep it coming man. looking good.

Looks great - clean efficient mesh.
I remember those beasties from episode 2 - they were pulling the podracers before the race werent they? I thought that wierd bottlecap on their ass / tail was bizzarre though...

Heres a small update; it's somewhere about 50% done, I have value and color changes to keep pushing. There will be some kind of raw-hide texture to it as well (the beast).

nice texture so far. You did a good job with the model too, nice edge flow. looking forward to seeing the finished texture.

Original idea lol, ( as StarWars quietly leave my mind ), your modeling is nice and clean, good poly distribution. I like the style on the texture wip, nice progress there, as a note they do look kinda of blurred...
Andy: Yes that thing has a very strange tail, maybe people kept cutting it off, the animal evolved and now it no longer grows... :scream:
