View Full Version : UV mapping help...
Boone 08-25-2004, 06:08 PM Okay, so I've given Blender( using 2.34 - newest release ) another chance. I find the interface very unfriendly, but workable. But there is something I cannot find documentation on - the new "UV unwrapping" feature.
I donwloaded the actual manuals from Blender.org, but they have nothing on it. I can figure out everything else, but I really need help with blender's texture-mapping abilities.

You are talking about the new LSCM feature I presume?
You need to add seams in EDIT mode with CTRL+E. You do this by selecting verts to make a seam and then assign the seam with CTRL+E, or delete the seam.
The problem is, you need to play with your seam placement until you get a decent unwrap that is workable. There are other, more advanced options embedded within this feature as well, but I am not up to speed on them yet, (i.e. pinning verts, etc.).
There are some threads at www.elysiun.com (http://www.elysiun.com) on this subject with some more explanations on the additional features of LSCM.
Hope that helped you some.

Re: Apollux.
AH! The Blender community has heeded my cry for help!
Its funny because I've been to the releaselogs page before, and thought it was just outlining the new features - I didn't realise that they were links! Cheers.

I have to say that that is the simplest LSCM tutorial that I have seen so far. Good stuff over at nicodigital as always. This should hook you up Boone.
Have fun!

Just what I need - another "Learn to speak ________ in 24 hours" book! :argh:
hi
Be sure that the URL is pasted in a new browser. Click on the URL posted won't work.
The video tutorial is step by step in a english Blender release, so you don't need to look at the spanish comments, simply get through

Hi pals!
I'm working in the english translation. I need a couple days to finish it, I don't have too much free time and my english is a little bit poor.
I hope that the videotuto be useful for all of you.
Thanx for your feedback.

I wrote a couple of small tuts for extreme beginners, part one shows how to model a sword and part two shows how to UV map it.
They were intended for amature game developers, so just ignore the last part about exporting the model to DirectX.
If you're interested, they are here:
Part I (http://www.yodasworld.net/blenderTuts/partOne.html)
Part II (http://www.yodasworld.net/blenderTuts/partTwo.html)
