View Full Version : Film Recovering/Recuperate
Pretorian 08-25-2004, 02:47 AM Hi!
I have an old VHS video wich I would like to make a DVD copie, but, it's a little bad quality. I would like to know how can I recover, fetch it up so I can send it to a DVD? I heard that I can make this recovering with After Effects, using a plugin. But, wich plugin is it?
Any other way to do this recovering?
Can I make this recovering with Adobe Premiere? Or, is there any other program that I can recover the entire movie?
How will be the full process?
Thanks

I heard that instead of using the plugin, you can use some effects, like color correction, etc.. So, wich wil be this technique to recover a movie? To get back the original quality?
Thanks

Try the following:
1. Try to get rid of the noise. This usually requires a plugin to get really good results.
2. Increase saturation.
3. Increase contrast.
4. Color correct so colors match the original footage.
5. Apply a slight sharpening filter.
Post a screenshot of the image. I'll try to experiment with it and then be able to tell you what I did to make it look better. Hard to give any clear advice without knowing the actual quality of the source.

Dear Wizdoc,
Thanks a lot on that!! :) I was just loosing the hope on that, because didn't received any answer till now. I don't know how to thank you!!
So, about the first topic:
"1. Try to get rid of the noise. This usually requires a plugin to get really good results."
Do you know wich plugin is it? Is it originaly from After Effects (if you mean After Effects) or something 3rd party? If it's not After Effects you're talking about, wich app is it?
Sure I will post a screenshot. But, can I send it by email to you? I prefer on that, if it's ok for you. Send me a private message here in CGTalk with your email. I can't promess I will send it right now because the movie it's not with me right now. Is it ok for you?
Anyway, all the explanations your said has helped a lot!! Thank you very much!!
Best regards
