View Full Version : Merge VS X-form
Animare 08-06-2002, 01:46 AM I was just putting together a scene and there are lots of different objects, at the moment they are all in the one file, but I have heard it is better to xref them? I was just wondering does it really matter and what are the advantages/disadcvantages?
Thanks

you mean merge vs x-ref.
well, x-reffing will keep the scene lighter. it's primary usage is if you're working as an artist in a group, another artist can work on part of the project concurrently and have it updated to the proxy in your scene file.
once something is merged, it's physically a part of the scene.
somethings don't x-ref like environmental effects.

:p
Yep X-ref thanks man, I'll probabbly leave it all merged as its a solo project and dont want to have anything messing with my fx etc...
Thanks
