How do you model Torso's like this one. Do you start off with just a box and continually refine it, or start with a box or spline created shape of many polygons? This was done in lightwave by the excellent modeler kretin.

whatever technique u like. some like the poly by poly method, most like the box modeling method. for a torso, generally i wold say box modeling give good result. as it helps give a good visualization of proportion and where to add specific details. poly to poly i use mostly on faces and most hard surface type model. but to each his own, what ever you feel comfortable with use it.
