Little update - I dont have a scanner but do have a few ideas I have been working with. I am going to be basing mine loosely off of DaVinci's flying machine. possibly a 4-winged variant made with stitched together rags, bamboo and some other crazy stuff. I still in it-

Sweet dood. Keep rockin.
Is it me or is there trim around the back of the top left wing and not the others?
What are your plans for a pilot? Or I should say a cockpit area?

Oh btw, try crankin up the AA a bit, and the samples a tad. The degradation takes away quite a bit of the model.

Thanks visualboo, you are right about the trim, I used it for reference originally, then forgot to get rid of it later. the samples i will take care of next render. until then...:buttrock:

oh yeah. and in answer to the question i missed, the overall shape is going to be somewhat like a dragonfly. I havent decided if I want the pilot to be hanging like a hang glider or if he will be inside the "body" of the dragonfly.
Any suggestions would be helpful.:D

A little update, just to show where i am heading. I am just figuring out the shapes right now and will make it homemade when I know a bit more how things work...

Looking beautiful. Will the power be flapping wings?

I hope not :( Just make it a glider. :buttrock:

I did a lot of thinking in bed last night and I know exactly what I am going to do.

I am going to stick with a glider, but have it launch from a rubber-band contraption.
for the rest, I will have the "dragonfly eyes" be transparent and 1 pilot looks out of each one, husband and wife If I get a chance to model them. The wing "tarps" will be made of stitched together pants, shirts, socks, underwear, etc... I will also have some "legs" with wheels on the bottom, some ropes, and anything else I think of along the way.
Here's a dragonfly reference pic. I am obviously modifying the design-

Very good idea!
I also agree to stick to the glider idea. Why not make it fly from a huge slingshot system.
I think also that u should make more skeleton parts for the wings.
Cool stuff!!!:wavey:
