Ive been trying to learn 3ds max for the better part of a year now, and I was wondering if anyone knew of a tutorial for modeling a samurai sword? I cant seem to find one, and my attempts at doing it without a guide have been less then succesful. Thanks for any help.

I suggest taking or finding two pics of a real sword; one top view, one side view. And model it based on that. If you don't know how to do that, 3ds max comes with a good tutorial on how to model based on a 2d image.

OK , remember ... the very first project you jump into may not turn out to be an award winner,
but it'll get you started ...

1. Use the spline-arc/straight line tool to make a basic blade shape.
2. Use the "extrude" modifier on it ( remember to check the close gaps button)
3. Your "blade" is ready. Now for the grip ... a simple cylinder would do.
4. The tsuba "wrist guard" ... another cylinder .... a bit flatter this one.
5. Add textures.
6. There ....

Well I've seen someone who made a samurai make a katana, I guess you could ask him. Here is a link to his thread:

But, if he doesnt help you or you cant find one, here is a medieval sword tutorial:
