Old Shoe Shop (Sapataria in portuguese)

This two iamgens are of my new work, carried through in 3DS Max (the render is default of the 4 Max) and the PhotoShop for textutres and overlapping, only of glow of the light bulbs and lens flare (I had problems with my video post, was only wanting to apply one effect, but it is as if it had render everything of a time).

The work is ready thanks to the participants of forum of 3DOnline (www.3donline.com.br (http://www.3donline.com.br) ).

Its version night was more for curiosity and study of the illumination.

The Shoe Shop has its architecture based on 1940 constructions, of the city of São Paulo.

I wait that my English understands and appreciates the pictures.

Yohann,

HEy this great. I must say that i LOVe the first one. the colour and the lighting and get GREAt. Personally im not too fond of the second image. The one at night.. The colours just dont convey a proper mood. It doesnt tell me anythign at all. Just that its dark thats it. The colours bother me a bit. Tooo much green!!!

anywyas love the first one keep it up..

Very nice! - especially the daylight scene (imo).

perhaps the sky could do with a little detail - some faint clouds or a slight gradient ?

Nice work!
I also like the lighting...
But the green glows need to be softer to me.

Very cool image
The only crit I really have after looking at it quickly is that it's immediately obvious that the shutters on the top window that are open are mirrors of each other. But apart from that, the modelling is very nice.
The lighting and texturing are excellent! I particularly like the daytime one :D The night time render is a little ruined by the bad alpha channel on the trees
Great work!

Great stuff, really nice mood and realism to it, especially the daytime.

I agree with the other comments about the nighttime..only other thing I could pick out would be the stairs, on the left curved side under the railing, something seems not right..may be the detectable polygons, but also I think it looks too lit, mainly where it meets the building, and that stops the texture on it working. At any rate whatever it is, it drew my eye there.

Minor tweaks tho, wonderful image..

that lightning has much more charm then those gi renderers, nice job man, you know how light works ;-)

I love the daylight image, but there is something subtle that isn't really convincing me. I think the sunlight should be brighter: right now you can see the sun shadows are very sharp, like in full daylight. It's the fact of seeing them so well defined that makes me think there should be more light. Or, maintaining the same overall luminance of the scene, you could soften a bit those shadows and maybe add a bit of purple in the dark areas, giving the idea of a mid-late afternoon shot.
I don't know, it's just something that I feel could help an already great image to become even better. :)

Fala yohann,

Hi, even so is not this a work WIP therefore already is finished, changed some caracteristicas under the optics of the suggestions.

I repeat one more time that I did not use none plugin, nor to relieve much less for modeling, only the video post filters.

I am thankful all for the critical ones and suggestions, for the compliments also, I wait that they appreciate new updates.

It would only like to know of you, what think of the nocturnal illumination, it knows… if it is realistic or not?

Pixar, much but very obliged exactly for the of compliments.

To Eliseu Gouveia, I wait that it has understood what you it said, if does not disrespect: if you to want to place the picture in its book, for me all good, even so does not go to gain money none with this I am very happy with the possibility to display my work in so important half. It is alone to ask for where so great, DPI and version (day or night, or the two) that you want that I you sending. I wait that you it has much success with its book and I say me later which I am the name of it to buy. Only question: You speak portuguese?

Tanks for all,
Yohann

Fantastic.

I only got two crits: The Neon sign. It look too modern (2000+ self illuminating flourecent plastic). Make it like the old neon signs with glass tubes. Or make it a classic box-sign with flourecent tubes in side and cutaway letters. The light in the nighttime from the sign has WAY to much glow. there shuld be more light on the house wall and almost no glow, unless there is fog in the scene and I see none.

In the night time pic, the yellow lights shuld "light" up more and the ambient light shuld be reduced. There is no point having the lights on as it is now. It's pretty bright to use the lights and the lights are too weak.

And this is just me thinking: there would be nice if there was something between the camera and the scene to get a bit more depth... It looks a bit like a studio set. It looks small because the camera is not in eye level. The camera is floating somewhere in the air and does not give a "realistic" view of the scene.

Great work anyways!!

The daylight one is spectacular. I must agree that the neon sign looks too modern. My other criticism is that your viewpoint seems too high. The viewer is level with the balcony, try for a camera height about 1.8 meters (eye height) above the ground and show us a render from that view. I think you'll find it even more natural looking.

Parabens !

particularmente, preferi a iluminacao diurna.

pablo bioni

tb sou do 3dO.

Great job texturing ! Images like this are one of the reasons why I hesitate to post any of my own work.

As others have said, the day light shot is geat. The only thing a little off is that in the backgound photo of the sky and trees the light does not quite look yellow enough to match the lighting on the building.

Night time, or dark digital images are always much harder to make because of the wide varity of gamma settings (brightness/contrast) people have on their monitors can make something that is dark shadow on your computer screen look like a brightly lit shadow on theirs. You might try viewing images like this on 4 or 5 different monitors (bug your friends) before deciding on a lighting scheme that will look good on most screens.

On the monitor I am currently using the blue lighting in the night time shot comes out looking like a medium colored blue. You might try darkening the color (not decreasing the lighting) to a deeper shade.

Muito Bom Trabalho!
Iluminacao Perfeita.

Very Good Work!
Perfect Iluminacao.

It thinks about making a small movement of camera with passaros raising of the arvores to the deep one, would be well legal!

Congratulations, do not have what for nor taking off

this looks very good to me. I would really like to see some wireframe shots to know how much of that is geometry and how much of it is texture detail.

The daylight scene is really nice.

Very good work Yohann.

The first picture is just perfect. I can't think of a single thing that could improve it. But the second one is lacking the same quality.

I think the image is a little over saturated for a night shot. Even the lamps shouldn't give that much colour the the image. Also the glows seem a little too much.

[Obligatory portuguese comment]
:buttrock:
Você tá estudando onde?

Good thank you very much to all... I still didn't have time, you saw I was even missing of CG Talk.

It is soon will provide both images in larger versions. :D

For the Brazilians
