View Full Version : corrupted
saygon 08-05-2002, 11:33 PM I have this strange sytation. One day I open my scene and max says he can't open it.I think OKI it is corupted, but I woulden't be so strange if it was for this only file max dosen't want to open bigger files (abowe 15 Mb).I don't think it is any program foult ,because I didn't instal anything or change, also not mines computer ( dual Atlon 1700, 512 MB RAM).And the stranger thing is that when file is corrupted I normaly can't see the wiew in the small window, but with all these files I can.And Max can't open files that haven't been used for 3 months and they were good, but have over 15Mb.Help

Try using File--> merge to merge the contents of the corrupted file into a nice new clean file, one object at a time if necessary.
Try opening the files on someone else's machine, if they open there it's a problem with your own install and you'll need to reinstall Max.

Check how much free space that you have for your Swap file (you should have at least 500mb). If you are low on space for your swap file you can/will cause corrupted files to occur.
If you cannot open your file after trying to merge you might need to revert to an autobak file to continue your work.

I had this happen to me a lot of times. It was because I did not have enough space on my boot disk. Even if your swap file is big enough on another disk, max will always need free space on your boot disk. So my guess is that you have less than 15 megs left on your C: drive - which can't be good anyway - Free up at least that amount of space and your file should open normally.
I hope ...

You were right.I just didn't remember that I coppyed one huge file. And I ended up with only 10 Mb on "c" drive. But what makes me think is that I have 8 Gb on the rest of the drives that is set to bo virtual memory.Dosen't max use the wirtual memory exept that on "c" drive???? But anyway thanks for help.
Max will use the virtual memory from other drives when working or rendering, but not when opening a file
Oh well ...
