Hi all,

I read the thread: http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?t=143019, which confused me a bit.
I own a Nikon D70 and just ordered the Nikon 10.5mm fisheye to create full panorama HDRIs.
It now seems to that this special lens is not taking 180 degree vertically which is in my opinium necessary for full 360x360 panorama.
I'm aware that I will have to take at least 2 images (180 deg. rotated camera) to stitch a full panorama. I had a look at panoweaver and it seems quite good for the task.
Now, is somebody out there who has the knowledge of how the Nikon lens works for this task?
If not, is there a lens available which does?

Thanx a lot

No digital cameras apart from Canon's 1Ds or Kodak's DCS 14-n will capture a full fish-eye because only these 2 cameras have sensors the same size as a piece of 35mm negative. As far as I'm aware all current fish-eyes are designed to work with a 35mm size frame which is why your 10.5mm lens won't give you a full fish-eye, it'll probably crop it off top and bottom whereas on a full-frame camera you get a circular image.

Nikon are currently saying that they have no plans to release a full frame digital camera so your options at the moment seem to be :

Use a Nikon 35mm stills film camera
Buy a Nikon mount Kodak DCs14n
Here at Framestore-CFC we use Canon 1Ds paired with an 8mm Sigma fisheyes to shoot our environment source images and they've been proved in action on several features now.

Hope that helps a bit,

Andrew
