'Faydark Feat'

This is a piece I've done for a friend of mine. He asked me if I wanted to paint his entire wall of his apartment with his two EverQuest (Online RPG) characters... I convinced him that high res painting in photoshop, followed by a large scale print was far better. (Phew!)
Throughout this project I feel that I've improved my humble photoshop skills a whole bunch. The only reason, other than making a friend happy, for doing this was to improve skills and build up experience.

Crits, please!

Nice pic, the characters need some more attention to rounf them out more. They seem a bit flat in places. The highlights on the guy with the sideburns make him look wet.

I like the light of the moon, and the camp fire and its shadows.

the characters in the first one look like 2 cardboard cutouts in a forest :) I think its because its almost impossible to frame two individuals in perfect profile who are that far apart and at different distances to the camera. I like the rendering of the guy's armour and the lighting on the zombie

Good points, guys. I'll try and make some changes. The size of this painting is massive... the "full scale" picture given by the clicky link isn't 1:1 to the actual painting...more like 1:4. I had problems handling such a large image... it's full of flaws, and lack of dept is one.

The crits are highly appreciated. Thanks!

By the way, this piece is put together from 5 different sketches... making overall perspective way off. I also, midway had to resize one part of the picture in order to keep character scaleing somewhat correct.

It cannot be repeated enough: Do sketches, map you image. Set the perspective and create one master sketch for scan. Even if this mean you have to scan more than once. I thought I more or less could jump right onto painting in photoshop... I learned a vital lesson: Preparations pay off ! :)

The overall picture is all right and will do fine on my friend's wall. But I'll certainly do it a different way the next time.

Crits still welcome.
