View Full Version : My first ever
kmblackbear06 08-23-2004, 05:00 AM Hey everyone, this is my first ever painting or attempt I should say at digital painting. I know it's not nearly as good as most others here, but that is why I am posting, so I can get some pointers. Please feel free to tell me anything you think that could help me out. I followed the tutorial from (3dtotal) But changed a few things just a bit. It's not finished yet, but I am having a tough time with the hair and getting it to look realistic.

the eye looks great, the black around the eye could use a little work...the hair could also use a little work, but over all looks pretty good

Thanks a bunch ryan, I'm fairly new to this... Any tips on what I could do or should do to better those areas? Be harsh if you have to lol, I just want to become a great digital artist. I know there must be other thoughts out there as well for a newbie like myself... Come on people, don't be afraid, all comments are welcomed good bad or ugly. If I am doing things wrong I need to be told what so I don't make those mistake again in the future.

Looks great but i have a few crits ont he eye.
Try and remember that an eye is a sphere, and try to make it read as such. Right now i think that little white reflection streak on the left, is arching the wrong way. It's got a arc downwards, which kinda indicates the surface beinding inwards to me.
Also the pupils looke a little wierd int he lines, because the kinda give me the impression that they curve so that they go inwards at the iris center, and upwards in the middle, and then inwards again. Should be pretty much straight, and at most arching along the surface of the eye ball ;)
Keep us posted as this is a great first digital drawing at least, especially like the value scheme and attention to detail ;)
btw what 3dtotalt tutorial are you following ?
