I just finished a model for a Subaru WRX STi and i'm starting to make the materials and textures, although i have ran into a problem: I can't seem to set up multiple materials on a single mesh. I've tried selecting the poly's and assigning them an ID (i.e. carpaint=ID 1, windows=ID 2, etc), but everytime i assign a material to an ID it forgets all the other ID's so that i cannot assign materials to them, i have also tried setting multiple mesh selects, which, when i assign a material to the selection it just assigns it to the entire mesh. I'm Lost!!! Anyone know a better way to do this or what i'm doing wrong?

Thanks in advance,

Try selecting the polys and DRAGGING the material to the selected area. That should work.

The material you applied, is it a standard material or a Multi/sub-object?

If standard, the whole mesh gets the material which is not the goal here.

If you choose Multi/Sub-object the mesh gets the materials depending on the Mat.ID which is the correct way.
