Hey all,

I Rendered out a scene in Max with Motion Blur enabled. When I viewed the rendered scene,
the motion blur seemed a bit well, blurry. How many passes do you have to do to make a decent looking motion blur effect. I set mine to 12 passes.

Any thoughts?

Well Max is known to have problems when it comes to motion blur. If you just want to use Max's motion blur (instead of a third party renderer that supports true motion blur) I have found that if you set motion blur to 0.5 and render it out using anywhere from 9-12 passes you should be ok. Hope this helps. :)

Hey Tady,
What motion blur are you using?
Object or image motion blur from object properties?
Or the multi pass-effect motion blur from camera settings?
Also its a good idea to mention what are you using it for...
From my experience it's better to use multi pass effects only when you have volumetric lights and atmosphere.
