View Full Version : Toy car dynamics
daevid 08-22-2004, 10:30 AM I'm new to reactor and am having trouble using the toy car setup. I've got it setup ok and it slowly rolls across the bumpy ground I've layed out beneath it.
Now my question is, how do I control it (acceleration/braking, steering etc)? Without any kind of interactivity it seems quite useless (except for creating spectacular crashes, that is...)
Thanks for any help,
/David

did you get any files or did you receive any explanations about how the toy car works. How you drive and steer the car?
it would be very kind of you if you could help me

I got no answer here, but on other forums users told me that you can't animate the car after the simulation has started, which make it rather useless...
There are other plugins for car dynamics, though, for example this:

It's quite expensive and I've not tried it nor seen any demo movies. If you decide to try it out, please share your experience...

Heya, folks, well i don't have answers as for controlling the toycar, i have myself looked for such things without luck so far.
But i'd like to say that the toycar is not a useless tool; it's actually quite usefull if you'd want to create a game with controllable cars, using any kind of 3D developpement environment. I actually had tested it with Virtools, the point is the toycar will let you define your car as a character - sort of a rigged car if you will, that you can then add controls to in your dev application : since the car is set up with it wheels and stuff, it'll automaticaly roll them if you go forward / backward, steer them if you turn and so on..
So this won't answer your question, but may give an insight on a possible use of this tool.
