View Full Version : Why is this scene running slow?

Hey guys ,

i did 30 instances of a low poly cylinder and xsi has like 2 frames a minute interaction speed on the viewport now. I havent seen this happen before , the model is anything but high poly and I have a quadro 4 900 xgl running the softimage certified drivers.

Can someone check the attached scene and tell me if its working fine on their comp and if not any ideas to what might be causing the slowdown. As soon as I hide the instances it speeds back up , but its not making any sense.

Opens and manipulates fine here. Running on a laptop pc.

Are you hiding the poolstuff layer by any chance?

Cause 4 different people tried so far and they all had the same problem I had.

I've opened the file and have not made any changes to anything. Here is a screen shot maybe I don't have everything enabled?

Yea thats where the scene is at right now.



Just realized something ,


Camera runs slow but User runs normal speed. I have no idea whats going on.

Yeah, just compared the two and camera is slower here as well, but not so slow that it causes problems.

same problem over here ... but i guess i know what the problem is :P

in the camera view the wireframe is displayed ... even if the object is not selected.
and that somehow slows the scene down i guess.

where did you activate that .. can't find any settings for that

edit: ... i found it ... its in the ghosting tab of the camera.
animation ghosting is enabled, thats why the wire is displayed and the scene slows down.
if you deactivate it (or simply create a new cam) everything is fine :)

You have animation ghosting turned on in Camera view. When I turned it off it works fine.
