Hi Randyrives,

Hmmm, this sounds very interesting. I have a few questions I hope you don't mind answering:

I know it says 'Intro to Modeling' but I was wondering just how deep do you go into the modeling process?
Are you planning to follow this up with a more advanced version of this course?
Just in case I can't make this course, how often do you run them?
This might sound a dumb question, but do I qualify for the C4D academic version in the UK?
Thanks in advance,

Shilts

Shilts - No Problems answering questions!

1 - We will cover modeling with Primitives, Nurbs and We cover the basics of box modeling and poly by poly (point method). We will model a screwdriver, a human eye and here is the final project that is assigned. Of course there are many other modeling exercises as well.

2 - Yes I am working on a Level 2 class that will hopefully be ready as soon as this class ends.

3 - The classes run for 6 weeks with a 2 week break between them. So every 8 weeks there about.

4 - Maxon US is the one that contacted the school about offering the academic version, I am not sure what Maxon UK will do.

Hope to see you in the class!

This looks extremely interesting. Are the classes video based with downloadable video tutorials?

I just enrolled! This sounds like it will be a cool experience, and for 20 bucks! :) I'm not totally a beginner to modeling, but with Cinema 4d I am so this will be a good help. I have a question though concerning the edu discount, is that going to be through studica.com or journeyed? Also what are we going to show as proof of qualification since we don't have student id's for this. :) Looking forward to participating!

*edit* Oh, I forgot...I see that Studica.com is taking preorders for the R9 XL release due out in September. Does this edu discount qualify for that release or is it for 8.5? Also, going over texturing...is this going to cover the shaders that are supplied by Cinema 4D or will this go over UV editing and photoshop for textures?

xeno3d - No video tutorials. The classes are based on 6 weekly lessons that are downloaded weekly in html or pdf format. Each lesson is to be read, and the exercises done by the students. There is a homework assignment at the end of each lesson. The students are encouraged to post their exercises and homework to a website and post a link in the class message board. During the week if you have any questions or problems just post them to the class board, and I or even another student will help.

pnoland - Thanks! The Academic software will be ordered from Maxon. Once class starts you will be given instructions on how to order the software. That is how Maxon will know if you are in the class or not.

I've a feeling iit'll come in real handy :) Oh yeah.. and I already own C4D 8.5 so I wont need 6 CE. Is there anything I need to do as far as software goes?

No nothing. You should be able to follow the lessons without problems. If you have any questions, once the class starts just post to the class board and I will answer them.

Excellent!! :bounce:

I just enrolled on the course. Then checked my emails, and received a response to an email I sent Maxon UK a couple of days ago, asking whether the student offer applies to us here in the UK as well.

Yep that's fine.

Once you're enrolled:

Thanks

Perry

That is great news. I wonder whether I can upgrade to R9 for free within this student offer? Hmmm, anyone know?

Hi classmates can't wait for this class to start....and perhaps the potential to get the Cinema 9 at a student rate...as i could never aford the £1300 or so that the full bundle costs.
