Did a quickie skater punk character this week, in whatever time I could salvage after work...

Anyhow, under 1400 faces with gear... 3 128x128 tex sheets... the original idea was kind of stylized.. larger head.. near cartoony proportions. anyhow, here he is.. was fun to do

Awesome, but why 3X128? Engine restriction?

I really like how the character look. Very stylized like you said.

Why did you give him Mike Tyson's tattoo on his face?

Lol! his proportions remind me of bobby hill, or even hanks dad! Incase you dont know what the hell im on about, i mean king of the hill

Seriously though - ace model and great textures, but his legs are insanely short! Almost oompahloompah style!

Was this intentional? or just a greivous proportional error?

EDIT: = i just read that its meant to be stylised! I understand now, but it still seems a lil off - the legs are the only thing that seem stylised - the head and hands seem normal size.

Sorry for my error - its 1am sunday morning and i have beer in my belly

looks good considering the size of the textures... it might be something about where the shorts end but his legs look a little short to me. but i think you really gotta do something about the area where the laces are on the texture... it seems to get super blocky in there... nice work though

I wouldn't change anything on this model even if I had the choice to do so, it's great!

I really love the way you've made him both stylised and real at the same time.

Hey thanks guys! Believe it or not, this is dead on to the concept. Now I cant show the concept :P, HOWEVER you CAN see pics of what was being sought...

But, for a view of the style that was being sought, please follow this link to see screenshots of a game under development..
http://media.ps2.ign.com/media/640/640600/imgs_1.html?ui=gamefinder (http://media.ps2.ign.com/media/640/640600/imgs_1.html?ui=gamefinder)

Allbeit, the characters in those shots are not 'pedestrian' characters such as mine is. To my knowledge, the ones in the pics are higher poly and may (not sure on the sheets) have larger tex sheets. Im pretty sure they do...

hehe.. the Tyson tat was taken from the Tyson head i did a little while back.. :P

Ill get some other poses up (out the door right now) later on.. if u look on the model you can see where his knee actuall is (on the wireframe).. I think his legs wont look so short with his legs bent

Anyhow, thanks all .. Hes all rigged up.. maybe Ill post more poses and/or an animation

good model and texture

i would only make a darker line on the ending of his shirt to give it a thickness and you could use a bit more texturspace for his shoes. they have the most detailes and contrast and it looks very pixaleted to the other parts.

@Andy H
hey, go on the street and look on the young generation - especially the skater. the model has no short legs, this are his pants which are sitting very deep - its cool, you know :)

yay, my triangulator friend :)

I think Iīm this far that I donīt even have to mention the mesh to you :)
The texture, in my eyes, also fits to the style you are aiming for.

Nice

My friends just came over and one of them brought his Dreamcast games collection...they're playing an ultimate fighting championship game and all of the characters do the same bighead thing your guy does.

Personally, between the low-rider shorts and the big-head, I think he looks too oompa loompa and not enough stylization. If he was a kid, I'd buy the proportions, but between the Tyson tat and the rest of his facial structure, he looks about 26 and stunted.

Great texture work, though. I'm genuinely impressed with how much detail you got out of 128 maps.

Thanks man.. you know, it wasnt really hard to get detail out of it. Just making sure I used up as much sheet space as I could was the trick for me. If you think about it, in total thats 3/4ths of a 256x256, which is decent amount of tex space..

I hear ya on the proportions. Like I said, i was following someone elses concept which adheres to a specific style to a game similar to the one linked to above... :P
