The GTA series is really great........but this one just looks like a long hip-hop video. I mean come on can you really beat Vice City???? Scarface the Video Game???
This one should be ok, but i think the mob blows away little gang-bangers any day!

Meh. Didn't look much different from Vice City...

well...when it comes to gta, you can't wait something too different. there wasn't much difference between gta 3 and vice city, and between gta3 and 2 [except for the graphics and controls of course]
it's always fun anyway so i really don't care that much

How about [any 3d incarnation of GTA] and the original GTA? The only thing to have changed in this game since it's creation is the flavor it comes in: NYC, London, Miami Vice/Scarface, and now Boyz N The Hood. My bet is that it features the same "open-ended" game methodology that all the other GTA games have: It's completely open-ended, just as long as you only want violent interactions within the game. Wow....it's so "deep".
Sorry, Man, but this is what I call Bad Game Sequel Syndrome [see also Final Fantasy 8 and 9, Tony Hawk 4 and 5, and Capcom vs Obscure Comic Book Company)]. This sequel is just changing cut scenes and has an early 90's Gansta' coat of paint. I'm sure the retro soundtrack will be amusing (just like last time), but the game isn't here... at least not anymore.
Oh...Sequels done right, you ask? Off the top of my head, I would say the Zelda, Metroid, and Silent Hill series have done a great job of staying fresh and interesting, from graphic and gameplay views.

wow these games are starting to look dated, vice city looked like this and that was what.. a year ago?

right, but it's not about the look here, great graphics doesn't make the game a great one ! ( btw vice city has a quite nice one), is't all about fun, many possibilities, not the one path, you want to turn right you do it, big maps etc, the more choices you have in game the better it is ( closer to real situations), look at doom 3 - nice graphics right ? sure and what else ? you run like a rat just do what the programmers wanted you to do, no fun. I love games like gta 3, vice, Mafia (that was the best i think) and i'm waiting for this one, if you know any game as this but with better graphics let me know, i will play it.

Well it IS a game about crime, specifically in this case gang warfare, which tends to be violent. Rockstar aren't trying to make it seem like anything other than what it is.
Anyway, this is quite a bit different to previous GTA games. Improved graphics (similar style, but more polys on screen etc), 3 cities instead of the usual 1, an entirely new way of playing the game through a more dynamic reputation system, physical variables which you can alter, (obvious) different setting, more dynamic interactions with vehicles and pedestrians, and probably more.
At it's core, yes it's still exactly like other GTA games, but thats because there's nothing wrong with how incredibly fun and addictive the gameplay is. If it ain't broke, why fix it?

And the fact is there is no more loading even if the "city" is 3 times bigger than Vice City's (except when you go indoor), you can now swim, get fat or work out to be stronger, change clothing/hair style, plus all the good ol GTA gameplay. Can't wait to jump from a building with my bicycle.

I think it's interesting how many of you just looked at the trailer for a few minutes and proclaimed the game to be the same. Out of all the releases so far this one seems to be the one that will stand out the most from the rest of the series. GTA 2 was just like the first, 3 put it into 3d but no gameplay changes, and Vice city added property purchasing. This time around they seem to be going with an almost RPG like stat system (the more you do something the better you get at it). Along with that is the food system which will affect all handling for your character. Stealth has been added as a new gameplay mode in the form of house burglary. The ability to swim (thank God) has been added, meaning boats can now be jacked like the cars and bodies of water have now been added as areas of exploration like diving underwater for hidden packages etc. Car jacking has completely changed. These are some pretty major additions/changes to the game that I'm sure will affect the pacing in a pretty different way from the previous installments. Personally I would have been satisfied with just another city to explore let alone a state with 3 cities to explore. As far as the graphic quality GTA has never been a great looking game. Why would anyone expect it to make a huge leap this time around?

I love the GTA series but the only thing that really annoys me about it is if your driving down the road and see another car that you like the look of and turn around to go and steal it. If your not fast enough the car will dissapear when it gets a certain distance away.
How annoying.

If those rockstar peeps have any sense, they'd make the PC version multiplayer, en thus, the best online game ever in the history of gaming.

As long as I can run over kids, shoot old ladies in the face, and hit people in the back of the head with a baseball bat....I'm a happy camper.

Yeah, but the beauty of it is, that's a two-edged sword. :) Lots of times I'd stand near an intersection and turn around in slow circles, until the car I wanted materialized.
Well, unless I wanted a Banshee, that is :buttrock:. For that, I'd just drive back to the first island and break into that used car lot near 8-ball's.

Yea, kinda think they shoulda left it with Vice City. I mean that game was one serious piece of art. One of the most perfect games to come out for a while. But hey.
Cant wait till they makes this with unreal engine 3!!!

what recent film is that music from?
Trailer looks nice, though as said earlier no graphical revolutions but im sure they're getting revenue together for next 'big' one on ps 3.

Cos this is on ps2 i dont think people can expect any better graphics really. The game has to store a lot of information, and has to draw a lot of things on screen at once: people cars, buildings etc.. It cant handle it. I assume it will still look worse than Vice City on XBOX.
Although GTA never has been about the graphics. Just the pure thrill. This should be fun!! Im still awaiting my copy!!
