i was thinking of putting these in 2 separate threads, but meh..

so anyway, i've been working on the digital pen and the mannequin for the past couple days, and i'm quite happy with the way they've turned out.. i actually have these things on my desk, so i measured them and modelled them all to proportion and stuff..

done in max 4.2, rendered with brazil..

here's links to the rest

I tried making an environment for this one, although i dont have any hdri stuff, so i just snapped a pic of my desk, and placed it as a blurred background... (http://freeek.hypermart.net/manpen1.jpg)

here's a clearer view of the digital pen and tablet.. (http://freeek.hypermart.net/render3.jpg)

i'm just looking for comments to see how i'm doin in the 3D world.. i've been into 3D for a few years now, but i'm only improving inch by inch every year, i think i'm finally getting the hang of it now....

Hehehe, cute :)
I agree with damon579 that there is something odd about the anti-aliasing on the right side of the pen, but other than that. it's a great image.
It would be nice to see a bigger render ;)

hmm.. maybe what you're seeing is the start of the bump texture.. the pen has these little ridges on the side.. i've attached a close-up of the side..

and i don't have much of a bigger render, since brazil could only go 1024x768, and the aa on the bigger one isn't too good..

maybe rotate the pen a bit, that would solve the problem.

part of composition is making sure your image reads well. The ribs on the pen are a great detail, show them off, but make sure A) you can tell what they are. B) they work in the comp. Good job-pretty cool stuff.
