But the PC version has gotten off to a fast start, as Hollenshead said it sold about 300,000 units in its first week on store shelves, a strong number for a PC game. "

this is really disappointing, i really want to play the game, and was anxiously waiting for the xbox release, because no way can my PC (p4 2.0 ghz, with a gf4ti 4200) handle that game. and i'm certainly not going to upgrade just because of it (not that i can afford to atm anyway).

edit: perhaps the xbox can't handle the game as good as ID would like it to? perhaps they're releasing it for the XBOX 2? hmm...

I think its blasphemous that Id is even putting it on xbox, AND with a feature the PC lacks. I always thought Id was pro PC gamers, guess not.

Many of the people I know who have XBox also have a PC for gaming.
This decision could easily be based on the fact that console game sales have grown while PC game sales have dropped in recent years. I am sure that they would like to see the PC sales continue unabated up through the holidays. With this anouncement I know a friend of mine will end up buying the PC version now instead of waiting for the XBox version.

vicarious visions is working with ID on the x-box port. though, i haven't heard what the hold up is about.

bwahahahah ah that is funny, god i hate the Xbox, worst console to ever plonk itself on selves...anyway not to start a console flame war, but this is hilarious, what with microsoft's "hey look at us we're so good we port every thing that comes our way onto our console, we even will have doom 3", sure a year later after ever man woman and child has played beaten and moved on from it.....almost as good as Halo with it's ONLY on Xbox tag.....not thats its on PC or anything hehehehe :p
what u just said made no sense at all.so doom 3 is almost as good as halo?plus the reason they have the ONLY ON XBOX is because its not on any other consoles...that doesnt include the PC.

Guess I'll be taking my EB deposit and put it towards some other XBox game. Ended up upgrading the PC and getting Doom 3 for it anyway. And in actuality, D3 isn't worth that much of a wait.
