I'm using the MX 500 (have the same on PC at home) on a G5 with Maya here. After installing the Logitech Software to configure all buttons, it is not possible to use the middle button (scroll wheel) as a third mouse click. There is no option for a third mouse click in the setup. Only "click" and "right click" and "double click" and so on.
I think it works without the logitech software. But then I can't use the additional buttons.
Does anybody have a solution for this problem?

I guess you have the latest drivers for the mouse. Even though no matter what how old your driver is there should be an option called "middle button".
