Well, as the article states, this is far far far from over, i wouldn't be surprised if it gets appealed up to the supreme court, with the kind of lobbying the RIAA is doing, they could get the influence to make it that far. But, the article is smart in linking to the Betamax case, this is the same type of technology, and they obviously lost that suit, so i don't doubt that some kind of filesharing will be totally legal in the next few years, whether it's the kind we currently have, who knows, but it's just a new technology, nothing really new in the concept, be it copying tape-tape with vcrs or downloading music from a huge network, you're doing the same thing, stealing someone elses work, i don't condone that, but i've had so many times where i've needed something totally legal and the only way to get it was a copy from somewhere else, that i definitely want this kind of tech to stick around and evolve further.

I own a lot of cd's (by owning I mean bought$$) I wouldn't own if it wasn't from kazaa, and I believe it must be the same for some people with software. I really don't see the point about wanting to close P2P.
Even things like iTunes are not what I want. The quality is not good enough. And I ain't gonna pay even 1 buck for something I haven't listened many many times.
This is good news.

RIAA claims of lost profits are completely theoretical. Say I download 1000 movies or cd's. Does that mean that I would have bought the movies if they were not offered for free? Big difference.

It's not a green light to go warezing, the service itself is simply in the clear for now...not what you do with it.
