i have been doing animation form video referance is that a bad thing or should i practice gettin my timing form story boards an use the video to aid in the flow of the animation?

If you have access to both...use both.

Unless you're arranging your boards into a lyca reel, they're not very good for timing. Boards are good for staging and flow; reference is good for timing and nuances of motion. Use both.

Reference is never a bad thing unless you're just rotoscoping it.
