Drumwhore: Thats a fun one. Made me laugh. You always give everything such a 3 Dimensional feel. Love your work.

Alice: Great personality in your pic. Its great.

jeroentje: Man, I wish I could do simple line art like that. For some reason it always eludes me. Great job.

...man, not only that I just started sketching due to CGtalk's speed paints, but you're also giving TOPICS....THANX! Here's one of my impression of an average CGtalker... :D

Just a roughly within 4 hour photoshop doodle on the side....and 16tons of fun and all fresh paint! ...just added a little bit of something to it....but I guess that only fills up a bit more of the 4 hours....two cigarettes and half a cup of coffee less...

...just to make sure: The CGtalk member is behind the monitor! working!? :wip:

Oh.. so the idea was not to paint yourself?

I'll just be over here having a shower then.
BTW... Does terpentine solve oilbased colour?

I thought the idea was to paint any cg talk member...so that's what I did. I don't think it really matters what you draw though, these Daily Sketch topics are usually pretty open.

Taron333
08-20-2004, 12:40 AM
Well, I would heavily refuse to claim that this was a self-portrait, but from the topic "Paint a CGtalk member" I get that we should reflect on our impressions of such! Hehehe....just so it is clear, although I'd be shocked if it wasn't....the member in my image is behind the monitor painting....I could have made some bubbles saying:  "...can we go play now, dad?!" ...and...."Yes, yes, sure...hold on a sec!" :argh:

Not really 20 minutes. Rather 15 minutes thinking about painting or not, dabbling a little here, a little there. Then a five minutes rush.

To many great entries to mention them all. Very impressive! Starting to feel ashamed over here.

PixeleD: Very nice, Very Dramatic.
justmarcela: Great interpretation. I thought of painting Zycho too.
Taron333: Wow. I understood imediately what you were saying with your picture. Looks great. Love the colors.
majofo: I think this is one of your better entries. I like the brush you used. Very styleized.
Norante: Oooh, my precioussss. My lovely. We will keep you away from that fat little hobbit. He hatess usss.
shoque: Awesome. Great rendering of Goro. I think the lighting is great. I especially like the the Goro mask in the background.
Kael: Great capture of RobertoOrtiz. I think its fitting.
zem: Haha... nice. I think that captures the life of most CGTalkers. A precarious balance of time, talent and work with the ugly Deadline monster rushing your way.
Phade: Nice sketch. I think it would look great fleshed out with some color.
SalamanderCoral: Nice work as always Salamander. I also thought of painting SirPatroclo just couldnt get a good idea for a layout. Reminds me of the Underworld cover. (Great movie BTW)
Goro: That made me laugh out loud. Great revenge. I agree with Shoque on the lighting. Looks great.
Flex Giddy: Cool line drawing. Very expresive. Looking foreward to seeing more. I think I would have a similar look on my face if I ever had anything on the front page.

http://users.skynet.be/am272566/supervlieg.jpgI liked drumwhore's so much i decided to make a little piece on the art school of the "remake"
I call it "me too"
I wanted to encapsulate in it the anger and frustration of creating such amazing stuff like Drumwhore and Supervlieg, in such short amounts of time. It also speaks about other subjects like: the duality of men, the eternal return of the same and answers the question "which comes first, the chicken or the egg?" oh and it also helps us determine the origin of the oompa loompa... facinating creatures....

Hi: Thanks fellows, I'm very glad you liked it.
I really enjoyed the awesome pics in this thread, shows the good humor and good vibes of the sketch group itself. Maybe one day we could do a colaborative pic, passing the file around so you can draw yourself in, or other type of thing. Just an idea.

SalamanderCoral: Yes!! Please do send me the high-res, if you don't mind, to magikcite@yahoo.es (magikcite@yahoo.es), I'll be very happy!.

Maybe one day we could do a colaborative pic, passing the file around so you can draw yourself in, or other type of thing. Just an idea.

That is awesome Sir Patroclo. Great idea, it came out well. One of my favorite submissions so far.

I have to agree with everyone that this has been one of the best topics. To many great pictures in this thread. I have caught myself browsing through the pictures too often this past week.

I like the colaborative picture idea. I think it would be just as fun as this thread has been. Count me as casting a big YES vote on that idea.

hey sir patroclo and supervlieg I did exactly the same thing about a year ago at our school.
(passing around psd files and stuff) we had a lot of fun. The only
problem is that the file grows very fast we had a layer for each artist and the file was about 60MB after a few days. Another problem is that the composition doesn't work well when too many people paint in the same picture and the motivation of painting decreases. So no
one wants to keep on painting on the image.
It works well with 2 or 3 people maybe 4.
In our case we had the best results when only two people painted together.

Do you guys know OpenCanvas? Its was a freewaretool once. With the older version of Open Canvas you are able to paint realtime up tu 4 people on one canvas via internet or ethernet.
It's a great painting tool and you can save event files which are very small. With the
event files you are able to playback all your painting process this is a really great feature.
I'll search the link to the right version.

Maybe it could be interesting to start a co-productions thread, where people can come
together to create those co-production paintings. What do you think?

DannyDreams

Fear...will keep you from drawing me.

Sir-Patroclo
08-24-2004, 08:19 PM
I think working in teams would be great!

Supervlieg
08-24-2004, 09:49 PM
I dont know opencanvas, but it sounds like a fun app. Ill be waiting for a link.

I tried the passing the drawing around, only on paper though. But everything on different layers could get quite heavy filesize-wise. But flattening is an option. I think its more of challenge to work on a flattened peice of work.

I think it's worth a try after the group thing is done with.

I liked drumwhore's so much i decided to make a little piece on the art school of the "remake"

Seriously speaking tho, Great work Drumwhore! (this pic was my girlfriends idea...)
about the chicken and the egg, the egg came first, think about it. the chicken wasnt the first animal to come out of an egg

I'm working 40 hours since a few weeks and that means a lot less time for the DSG :(

Ah well, I have time this weekend, if I see a theme I like I will join the fray :D
