View Full Version : A really in-depth tutorial needed
The_Architect 08-18-2004, 05:59 PM Hey guys, and gals, does anybody know where I can find a really in-depth tutorial. What I want is something that uses lots of techniques in it that I can learn and apply to other stuff I'm doing, but also explains it well enough so I don't spend half my time searching for the correct way to do something. i.e. some tutorials tell you to do something, but don't explain how to actually do it. It gets tedious.
If anyone can help I'd greatly appreciate it.
Thanks in advance.

i learned max from an old v3 book. If you read it and follow it through, you will follow several basic tutorials and they build up in difficulty. These tutorials are included as pdf or helpfiles in max versions nowadays. If you follow these you will get to know a lot about the basics and more. But you do need to actually read the book. Even if it gets boring. It saves you frustration later on, when you otherwise wouldn't know what the hell it is you're talking about. If you're new, this could work. Give this a week or 2. I had to read 2 books in 3 weeks. learned a lot from them.(forgot a lot again as well)
Have to keep using the techniques though, or you will forget them again. Ow well, you use new techniques you use more often anyway.
Hey guys, and gals, does anybody know where I can find a really good newbie. What I want is someone who uses lots of explanations so that I can learn and apply to other stuff I'm doing, but also explains it well enough so I don't spend half my time searching for the correct answer to his question. i.e. some newbies tell you to do something, but don't explain how to actually do it. Pardon the sarcasm, but try to be a little more specific. There are no tutorials for max that explain how to do everything. ;)

humm humm a familiar question.
check the tutorials section and you might find something specific. But people dotn write tutorials that cover everything. There are ones for rigging, cars, planes effects etc. you have to do some leg work and put the skills together. If it was easy everyone would be doing it.
Dont mind the frosty reception, keep posting, just be more specific about requesting stuff....
and check da manual.....lots of loving years went into writing it.
Yea, don't take my reply in a wrong way. It was meant as a joke. But always try to imagine how someone else would see your questions before posting.

Hey, what we all really need is for someone to write a tutorial on how to find the tutorial you need....
Hey hang on, what about this tutorial....
Go to this site
www.cg-academy.net
buy a dvd on a topic you want to learn.

If there isn't one on the topic you want to learn.
