Title: Frog Ornament On Mantlepiece
Name: Caleb Blake
Country: Australia
Software: Blender

This is a piece that I am printing and framing as a birthday present for my
father who likes frogs.

Originally it was intended to be a UV-mapped pseudo-realistic frog in an outdoor
environment, but my play with materials led me in a different direction.

This is my first serious project involving organic modelling but I believe it
has come out well in many ways.

All items were modelled in Blender and all materials are internal Blender
materials/procedurals. This is rendered using Blender's internal raytracer with
ambient occlusion.

Feel free to criticise the technique etc.
I would like to start collating feedback to incorporate in my next project. Best
way to learn.

Good day!!

Good work on you modeling!
One thing about this image that doesn’t make it look believable is the shadows.
I see on the image that you have a basic shadow, but it would look more realistic if you add even more shadow to the frog.
To get a better reference, take a cup or any object and place it on a table by the wall (just like you have it in your CG image) and then take a picture of it. This way you can see exactly how and where the shadow should be. After that you just tweak your image. It adds sooooo much more realism to a cg image.
Hope I was able to help you :-)
