Hi ,

After talking to adobe expert support and posting in several forums - im still at a loss

I happened upon this site - which looks really helpful and interesting so im hoping someone may have a little insight into my problem.

I have a sequence of .pic files and another sequence of .tif files that are located in 2 folders.
Origonally the folders were held locally on a shared drive between to XP proffesional machines.
The Editors imported the sequences in After Effects without any issues.
The file sequeneces were created in Softimage XSI 4.

When the folders are moved to our Linux server or to a MAc OSx machine - and we open After Effects on the XP machine and go to File - Import - File - and browse to the directory AE seems unable to pic up the FIle Format - and therefore cannot import the files as a sequence.
However I can drag and drop or open 1 .tif file and its ok.

Where it says filetype it is blank - and then the footage and image sequence boxes are greyed out.

It was surgested by the ADobe tech that i select *.* All Files from the drop down box and then highlight the files in the window - however this made no difference whatsoever....

If I open AE on the MAc and import the same Image Sequence set from Either another MAc, the Win XP machines or the Linux File server it has no trouble recognising the sequence and file type.

If I place the sequence files on anothe XP machine on the Network - AE has no trouble picking up the file format and therefore importing them as a sequence.

To Rule out a network problem - we tested the .tif files in Quicktime Pro on the XP machines and Softimage XSI, on multiple XP workstations we were able to import the .tif sequences without any issue no matter where they were located on the network....

As far as I know the image sequences are created in SoftImage XSI 4 , and are then placed as either .tif sequences or .pic sequences in folders.
File length is not an issue as we tried changing the names.
The standard set we are testing are labeled apple.0.tif, apple.1.tif etc.

Adobes answer was that we keep them locally stored , which is ok, however is just a workaround, we need these to be stored on our redundent fileserver.........

Any Ideas what may be causing this????

Thanks
