View Full Version : Volumetrics in XSI?
neods 08-18-2004, 12:48 PM Hey, I'm an old Cinema4d user, then started to learn 3dsmax about 2 months ago. Now that XSI is so cheap and I've allways been real intrested in the product. So I was wondering that is there proper volumetric rendering in XSI, I tested Afterburn once and loved it, so Is there a way to get proper Clouds and Explosions in XSI?
Riot did real nice clouds but are these features build in or was it In-House development on those?

Check the July archive of the mail list: http://archives.itg.uiuc.edu/softimage/xsi/2004-07/threaded-index.htm
Scroll down about 2/3rds of the way to see a huge discussion of volumetrics (or lack of) in XSI.

3.9 I think refers to some of the volumetrics stuff in the old Soft 3D, not XSI. I don't know of any volumetrics improvements done for XSI 4. There were particle related improvements in 4 like goals and better particle motion blur.
