View Full Version : Face in progress(?)
SpnakR 08-18-2004, 02:10 AM I'm using photoshop cs, and this took about 7 hours total. Created nearly entirely through experimentation, but it ended up combining well. Looking for criticism, and would have posted in finished works but for some reason I couldn't. Say what you'd like, 'sarlight to be mean.

you should try to make a lot of anatomy research as the eye is not right in shape and proportions, the colors are specials too, in fact you should work symetrically in the eye because in nature, humans are mostly symmetrical...mhmmm well, and everythings a bit dark i think too.
enjoy

I have to disagree with you, jnurp. Human beings aren't at all symmetrical - take a close look at your own face - I doubt your eyes are the same size or at the exact same level on your face....it's only in stylized art that human faces or bodies are symmetrical.

One of the things you learn when start to draw, is that human anatomy isn't so symmetrical. Another is that the usual shapes we have in mind about different parts of the face are wrong. Try to find some photo references and practice copying it.

Well i agree that the eye isnt the "correct" shape, and looks a bit wierd. Also i dislike the mix of colors.. doesnt seem to be a coherent color scheme in the image.
The sword (?) isnt straight in the edges, and thus looks very sloppy :(
Finally i disklike the overuse of texture and lighting filters, which make the whole image seem very strange imho. I dont like overusing textures like that, since it rarely works and often gives a strange look.
Thoose are my crits, hope you can use them... ;)

Thanks for the input, and glad they weren't 'like' and 'dislike' comments. I doubt I'll do much with this exact image, but I'll certainly take into consideration everything said next time I make something- which will most likely be later rather than sooner.
I'd rationalize what I said but I think it's unneeded, but thanks for the thoughts.
