Great design Zapan. He looks lethal. Wer're gonna need wires but here's some crits...
The abs look like they are being sucked into the torso. I'd bring them out a bit and give them more mass.
The neck muscle look a bit random. I think they could be shaped and arranged better. They also seem to flow into the jaw.
But yeah, good work bud. This could be really good.

Very cool. It kinda reminds me of Blizzard's Diablo character mixed with an Alien. But very nice job modeling.

Andrewley : thanks I will try to fix them and also the neck...I will post some wires later
Dannydreams : Thanks and nice Diablo's pic. Maybe inspirated of Diablo or Alien but as I said I made that draw in 2001 so I don't remember which kind of inspiration I used.
Maybe just a scary monster with a big smile (as a cartoon)...lol

Modelling is great. And nice concept. DO you plan on creating the whole body, and if so, do you have any concepts of his whole body?
Edit:
Oh what app are you using?
Indeed he looks strong :D
Great modeling so far , i can't stand to see a wire

Hi everybody
cg219 : Thx, I guess it will be an entire model but the body is made without a real concept I'm modelling something that I find it would be cool :) and I'm using maya...
Goul,shazzed,Lanz,Bonciu_toma,Burning_Frust,Borchert : Thx to all I will post low poly and wires later, when I will clean up the mesh a little bit, for now it's kind a messy...
Here an update with the legs , still not right with the anatomy but I will arrange all the mistakes when the whole body will be done....Btw the skull necklace is just for fun :)

I like the proportions and the posture of the character but look at his spine. It makes a 90 degree turn at the neck. I think it would look much better if the spine shape was more believable. Also I think you know the muscles need work.
Keep going
nice concept and good modelling ..

Thx to all for those great comments
Andrewley : I totally agree with you about the muscles but I realize that most of them will be hide by his armor so I won't spend too much time on it...I tweak them a little bit before this update. For the spin thing It's not very realistic but I like it like that so sorry it won't be changed...sorry
Bonciu_Toma : Oops sorry and yes I will make an entire scene for him...I hope
Niki, Napalm : Thx you guys

the armor seems very lacking, in fact id rather call them pads because they dont really cover vital body parts, maybe give him some chest armor that covers his shoulders, kinda like football or lacrosse pads.
also his pose makes him look like he's falling on his face or something. lastly why are his horns and bones shiny?
DannyDreams

Yeah his character doesn't really look like the type that needs to worry about anyone getting to his "vital body parts". I like the way his armor is set and the skulls around his torso rocks.

Another great looking model Zapan- excellent attention to detail. If I had to comment on anything it would be his pose - he's too far forward for a static pose and it doesn't look like he's about to leap as his heels are on the ground.
I'd either bend his knee more and pull his bum back or have him standing up slightly straighter. Giving him a tail could also balance him out. As he is I think he'd fall over forwards.

Pyrotechnic : Hey that's an idea...where should I sign ?
DannyDreams : Thx, I'm very glad you like it...
Tonik : Thank very much man , about the pose , it's not on purpose, I mod him , put the legs very quickly then I realize that he wasn't very stable but It's just a bind pose for modeling and I will change it when I will rig him...
StoneR : Sorry I made a mistakes because his armor is there more for some kind of decoration or trophy than a real protection 'coz it's not a war demon sorry for the confusion

Great detail.
as far as the chest and shoulders, keep working.
the crease of the pec(the bottom) should also crease into the side of the shoulder. The way you have it, it sort of looks like the chest goes into nothingness.
the part where you have the arm joining the shoulder.........looks like there is a crease there, make that join the chest. after that, push the points under the crease back and into the side of the torso making the side of the arm and the armpits...........
tricep-what is that bulge next to the elbow? if thats your tricep, get rid of it. the bulge is on the opposite end by the shoulder
get rid of that muscle that is where the tricep should be at the back of the arm. make the crease between the tricep and the muscle that is in between the bicep and tricep less pronounced
nice model though

The skin is good but i think you should paint some more macro-details....i call macro-details those details that are visible from a far camera...for example scales or the thing you made on the shoulders and on the back of the demon...
Instead i think the micro-details is perfect, like the fine bump of the skin...
Good work, keep it up!

Hi Zapan
I am using 3D Studio Max. I know that I can mirror the models, that`s not my problem. I have problems when for example i give my modle a necklace, like u did. Or when I have to define muscles, after I did, the vertexes are very messy, u know, then I have to rotate severel times around my model, until I finally have selected only a view vertexes I want to move. And that sucks. http://cgtalk.com/images/smilies/smile.gif Is there a way how I can do this faster and more exact ?
thx 4 ur help
Ps: I can`t c any mistakes or corrections on ur model, keep up the good work,http://cgtalk.com/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif but maybe is the skin a bit too speciular, it could be less.
nice progress zapan :)
the specular is looking much better but imho it's a bit too shiny... then again have to see it in an environment to get full mesure...
keep up the excellent work

09-20-2004, 05:03 AM
great work man, really a daunting sillouhete he has (kinda scared me a bit). But the anatomy of the arms is a bit weird, in the forarm specifically, everything else looks good. Also his for arm isnt in proportion to his upper arm, never the less, that might change the effect of the character. Good work so far

Hi all thx !!
Optimusdinkus : thanks man. I so agree with you ...Yeah the proportions aren't right but you know it's kind like I wish to have , a strong and mean look so I probably won't change it...For the next work I promise to make more realistic character...But hey no time no see yours come on man post it , I can't wait to see the advance of this really good work

Very impressive model and texturing..........i agree about playing with the spec map, maybe make it a little "wetter" on the bloody parts.........also it would be really nice to see some more detail in the groin cloth to go along with the nice detail on your model ;)
i also like the asymmetry of the lighter bumps/moles? on his right arm, maybe do more asymmetrical stuff .......break off the tip of a horn.......more scars....whatever you like

I know that I will be in a minority when I say this, but I think it's a shame that you are hiding your fantastic model behind all that armor (although it's a very cool armor). I really think it is detracting from his one truly unique feature which is his head.
To me it would work better if the armor was smaller and not so intrusive / detailed so the details of his anatomy would stand out better.
Don't get me wrong.. it's fantastic work you are doing. Just adding my 2 cents into the fray.
Zapan
09-24-2004, 10:11 AM
PhoenixDown : thank you very much
Frederik_s : Thx ....Hum one very good point, is anyone think the same ?
Actually I haven't think about in that way , the armor was just to give him some Hell's King look (cf:demonology) so actually It's not to hide is body but more to stop seeing him as beast but more like a real character....
Tell me what are feeling about it , if you find the armor too "important" into this model

I think that shoulder plate is real nice.
Is that going to be his actual stance? I was thinking that he would look better if he stood str8er. it would be more majestic, if you were going for the king thing.
THEUNFORGIVEN
09-25-2004, 01:05 AM
Fist of all, let me say  awesome demon  .
but....
I must agree with Frederik_s. Though the shoulder plate looks really nice, it draws the attention away from his face. Also though it makes him look more king-like it takes away the muscle power he seamed to have when he was wearing smaller armor.
Zapan
09-26-2004, 09:11 PM
Hum ok I will try to post an other version to see if people like it more with a lighter armor....
Arsyn : No it won't be his definitive pose
I will change it with the rig and after all I will animate him so...no need to worry about his pose :)
Anybody think that his actual armor is too heavy for the model ?
C&C
OptimusDinkus
09-28-2004, 06:13 PM
I think that the armor could be left on, if it was ballanced with something on the left side like a weapon of some sort, or hell, even a trident (something MANY people dont put anymore on demons latly). Or something of demonic powers, who knows, but if could be ballanced so that the armor wouldnt feel too off the fulcrum.

Hey. great character design, great modelling.. i'll be watching this project for sure...
joe_morgan
10-20-2004, 03:56 PM
Hey. I'd just like to start by saying "I like this models a bunch". Sorry I didn't catch you in the modeling stage, but I would tend to agree with wargasm and others who thought the neck was a little thin. I don't expect you to go back and remodel it. But if you did decide to go back and revise, it would be nice to see the neck connected thicker at the top and meet that hump on his back. And maybe fix the peck-to-shoulder formation. And also about the comment on the believable spine curviture (again I don't expect you to go back and change this now...), most creatures spines don't come all the way to the back like this. Not that you should make it more like most creatures, but it might be interesting to see the spine sink into the body into a more "believable" position, and extend the bone spikes/protrusions so they still stick out from his flesh. It would deffinitely give him/it a more tormented demon look if the bone spikes had to break his flesh in a less comfortable-looking manner. Plus, they would be more protected from attacks, and less likely to dry up and snap like twigs.
I think the textures have come along nicely. I agree with Frederik_s's comment about some of the armor/decoration taking away from the character. And those pieces of metal on his feet look like they would fall off unless they were secured to the back of his heel or clamped into his flesh or something. The chains are somewhat lacking, in that they don't look like chains. If you look at a chain link (at least ones as thick and secure as your demon would need), every chain-link would have a weld mark (creating a bulge on the long part of the link). Just a minor detail, but it stands out to me compared the the detail you have in the rest of the model.
The arcs in the walk-cycle look okay. But the timing is quite slow. If his foot was in the air that long, and the weight shift transfer wasn't more extreme in the opposite direction, it appears as though your demon would fall over. With that much girth to your demon, I think his foot would come down harder/faster due to gravity.
Big Ups on the progress thus far though!

It's becoming awesome ! But your beast should have some difficulties to stand up.
