hy community,

i just styled a hi-poly head with hair from selection. the hair style is combed and clumped as i want it to be but when i apply dynamics and a low poly version as an obstacle all settings seem do go wrong! http://www.xsibase.com/forum/YaBBImages/angry.gif http://www.xsibase.com/forum/YaBBImages/cry.gif

the hair seems just not to perform the movement as it previews...

i followed the training dvds but it starts to drive me nuts http://www.xsibase.com/forum/YaBBImages/undecided.gif

you applied the dynamics op after styling?

that should be correct. the order of operations your doing things in may be the problem.

first of all, thanks for the reply Strang. i'm picking up XSI for a new project and have the grasp of things, just not in incredible detail.

to reply to your post, i'm not sure what you mean. it's right to apply the dynamics op after styling? or its wrong and that's the problem? because i do it in the following order.

hair from selection
scale modifier
comb 1 half
comb the other half
style the hair
add a gravity
apply the force
set the head as the obstacle
click the dynamics button for good measure.

hair goes back to it's default (no scale no combing) state and reacts to gravity while penetrating the head.

adjusting the push distance on the head obstacle makes things look right initially, but only until i calculate.

so, am i missing something obvious?

perhaps try freezing hair before applying dynamics

ggg,

will try that and let you guys know. thanks again.
