Well guys my long quest to master Messiah will be recorded here. I will post a series of tutorials and record any errors I find. I can promise that I will leave no stone unturned and that my typing will all ways suck. Also I have a post called the bright side that I will be working on so check there from time to time. Since no man is an island I will often ask for help and opinions. So the first tut will cover: loading background plates, making materials, and softbodies. I will all ways supply all the files so you can test for yourselves. I use a dual Opteron with 4 Gigs of ram, The largest swap file that XP will allow, The $500.00 Nividia card ( I forget what it's called )

The beginning of the first tut is pictured above. I'll post the tut as soon as I get some questions answered by PMG tech support. Also here is my first bug report.

This is the same scene with shadow maps turned on.

Also we will be rigging this guy:

And if possible we will do some cool skin shading.

And last but not least. We will take this prototype model made in Maya and port it to Messiah.

Hopefully the Hair ISSUE will be solved or we will have to finish this guy in Lightwave.

See ya soon:buttrock:

Okay I'm still working on this tutorial but I wanted to post the first test on the soft bodies.

The first thing I noticed was that the speed of the softbody calculations. It's pretty darn amazing. There are a few things that I am still working on. Mainly the FLUBBER like material I want to add to it.

Messiah's soft body effect is supposed to use the SURFACE NODE but it doesn't. I have only gotten it to work when I point the effect to a MATERIAL NODE. Also it only works with one MATERIAL NODE. If I add additional Soft Body Effects to the other MATERIAL NODES it doesn't work. (you can have more then one MATERIAL NODE in a SURFACE)
I had this problem when I was setting up the jello tutorial. I duplicated the jello object and the soft body effect only worked on the original jello cube none of the duplicates worked.

For you ex Maya guys/gals out there A SURFACE NODE is the same as a SHADING GROUP in Maya. And a MATERIAL NODE is the same as choosing a Phong, Blinn, Lambert ETC... in Maya.:buttrock:
