I wanted to break out of my usual "clean" way of illustrating and do something a lot more expressive. So I did this painting in Painter Classic. It started as some mountain landscape. I went detailing more and more along the way again...
The use of the colors rocketing over the canvas was most important for me, while making this.

In the end I painted in the characters from the Fellowship (I am reading The Two Towers now in the Dutch translation ;) ) because I just don't like paintings with nothing happening in it.

Hope you like it,
cheers, jeroentje
(This is 100%, so I can't zoom in for details. They're not there.)

nice work....would like to see the top of the mountain more detailed, so it would fit the general style of the pic more

@ schmu_20mol
Thanks man!
I thought let's make things further away less detailed. And let's make things closeby more detailed. But I screwed that up a bit by painting in the characters.

@ DocBoom
Thanks to you too.
Corel Painter Classic, no re-sizing of the image-size (this is one-on-one) and only with the standard "Big Fine Hair" brush.

Cheers

Made some minor changes to bring in a bit more depth. schmu_20mol you did have a point afterall ;)

I call it finished now before I paint it to death.
