View Full Version : Character: skeletal warrior
dakmoden 08-15-2004, 01:00 AM Hey guys,
Been a long time since I've had the chance to work on any of my own 3D stuff. School, work, and the wife and kid have me so busy... Anyways, this is the new character I've started working on.
My thought is that the skeletal guy isn't simplyan undead human. He's part of a race that submits themselves to be host to the large spider-like parisite on his back. The parasite feeds off the host (hence the skeletal face) but in return gives him extrodinary abilities.
Here is the concept drawing. Anyone who cares to is more than welcome to critique and give me ideas. I'd really like to have the input from all you creative geniuses out there.

Here are the pics of the modeling so far. There is something bugging me but i cant quite put my finger on it yet though...
The obvious symmetry will be taken care of after the general body structure is taken care.

well thats a nice start, you have some nice hard looking lines on the face there. I think maby the thing thats buggin you might be he brodness of the front of the teeth/jaw area, it should be alot more narow. Lets maby see some flat front shots instead of the down shot, a three quartar shot would be helpfull too.
also get some better reference, I'm not looking at any right now but I think he missing some small bones under the cheek bones and lower face.

http://www.adam-may.com/images/left_shot.jpgok here is a side shot and the 3/4 view. Please elaborate on what you mean by the teeth being too flat. Do you mean the actual teeth or the whole contour of the front of his face?http://www.adam-may.com/images/3_4_shot.jpg

wasn't there a skeleton comic character (a bad guy) that used to have glowing eyeballs / sockets...???
he rode a motorbike from my memory... :p
seeing as the spider has control of him (of sorts), maybe there could be a way for it to see for the skeleton...
just a suggestion... :)

yeppers, indeed. A shit load better than my skeliton (although my first model... uck). If your going to keep this in a semi realistic fasion, Id keep it the way it is with the teath, if not, do what others said. Maybe you could make the eyes glowing orbs, or fire spewing flame throwers, or something sensible like woden eyes or glass eyes. I dunno

another small update, tried to add some more curvature to his face and started the process of making all that flat material look like clothe... Oh ya, and now he has arms. They are thin on purpose, I plan on making them look like they are the arms of a life-drained man...
I've yet to see how that goes :) This is definately my most advanced model yet so everything seems to take me forever, especially since I've had my fingers crossed the whole process :)
Thanks alot guys for all the nice and helpful replys, really means alot to someone working their butt off on something.
PS: I never woulda gessed going to school for 3D would so get in the way of getting any 3D done...
