bear in mind that i'm relatively new to after effects, so i don't know much.

i have an eps logo i want to animate, with all the elements separated into layers... now i don't want to copy or rip off the following example, but i would like to know how to do the kind of stuff where the logo is basically "growing", you know, where it builds itself, and the lines move and grow outward (or are unmasked i suppose).

here is the example: http://www.mavismedia.com/2004/recent/quicktimes/bud_01.mov

dropping in the elements seems to be the easy part, with simple scaling or whatever... it's when all the stuff around the side and on the top are growing and building outward that i am really wanting to know how to do.

and on top of that, i am pressed for time... so if anyone can help soon that would be awesome! thanks so much!!

Hi there,
If you jump thru your example qt movie frame by frame you'll see that the layered shapes are unmasked thru a period of just a few frames. that's the way how to do it, that gives you full control about the speed and way the masks animate. Good graphical 2D animation means truckloads of work and not just applying one or two filters. If just masking is not enought, mesh warping (in distortion effects menue) or replacing footage quickly within a very short time has the visual effect of growing as well.

1) is masking probably the easiest/most logical method?
2) how do i do this masking stuff and keep it looking clean too?
