View Full Version : Maya>LW model conversion question...
Maybe I'm just blind or stupid, but how do I get a maya model imported into LW 7...
Is there a maya plug somewhere?
Is there a LW plug somewhere?
It's a simple thing... just a conversion... Even if I could save it as a DXF or something would be somewhat useful... the only options I have for 'export selected' are .ma, .mb, .mov
Thanks for any help you can give.

look for the "Beaver Project" it's specially designed to do LW to Maya and back
Is there nothing built in to either of these programs?

Obj!! Of course!!
Turn on obj export plugin in plugin manager. Export the polygonal object to obj format and open it up in Lightwave. Never fail even you do this the other way around. Remember, polygon only. Not even subD will work.
Hope this help.
Thanks folks.
I posted this in the LW forum as well, and the OBJ conversion route was what I ended up using... simple and almost exact conversion.
I was actually pretty impressed.
Thanks all of you for your help...
