View Full Version : Wizard

After a longer break I have another (fifth) Fantasy Worlde serie character to criticize. This time - Wizard. As usual, model is beta and not rigged (posing is temporary). Also cloth drapping is done manually for test render purposes (no softbody), so it looks weird.
If you have questions or opinions, please write.
First impressions from other people was that he looks like mixture of cowboy (hat) and Kmicic (a heroic often drunk character from one of famous Polish historic-adventure books). I am considering of adding him a "magic bottle" to his hand :D
Personally I do not like him somehow, perhaps I am bored and tired a bit with all these characters, and I have some more to do...

I love the details & the wardobe, but either the mustache has to go, or give him a big beard, cause with his current facial hair, he looks like a western sheriff stuck in a medieval wordrobe
Remember ur dwarf to.

Incredible work, but i have to agree with Equinoxx about the mustache. It doesn't fit the character IMHO.

man I definately like your style! and the wizard's hair is much better than the dwarf's beard ;)

Like im muchly!
not having seen your other works I have nothing to compare him to but this guy rocks! Love the textures and the details on his personals.
I would agree that the MO looks a bit out of place as is, but I think a flowing beard would suit him to a treat. The only other thing I could fault at all (and this is prob just me) is the dragon/serpent on his staff. I think it is a bit large and not as detailed (or as subtle) as some of the other ornaments.
tis a small thing on a grand work.
thanks for sharing

I will probably remove moustache...
I will also make a small site abot making them (mesh shots, creating stages, etc) soon.

Damn. Amazed again. I've always wondered. What on earth kind of system are you on?! :)

Brillant work Dariusz!!! I like the way you pushed the details in armors and all these crazy equipements.. but........... please Dariusz!!!!! Do something with these hands! They are the only thing that catch my eyes!! (they are too stiff and in non natural pose) it`s the same thing for the eyes. they are a little dead ... but you really rock man, good work!

Very nice. I love the detailing, especially the design of the sword bit. I second Pascal's hand comment.
Great job, congrats.

To Patrick Swizer:
Nothing special, main computer is Duron 800 with 768mb ram (I can not put more RAM, I will have to change motherboard&proc soon). Ah... and I have dualhead card (gforce2mx) and 2 huge monitors... couldnt live without second monitor, this really speeds up work :)
I have some speedup tricks when I model..
Actually I made 2-hour videotutorial about modeling/optimization tricks (for last Polish 3D trade/conference), but it is in Polish... useless for you...my spoken English is worse than written, so I could not do English version :(
Well, characters are not rigged, and I am too lazy to fiddle manually with fingers ... I am just giving main posing and push render... and next please... ;) these are not pictures of my life, just test renders showing objects...
next will be Amazon Princess, and I promise to give her right pose (including hands) :)
I am tired with them... probably when I finish whole serie I will make a couple of "finished" pictures wih these characters with proper background, posing, lighting and mood...
Thank you all for your comments.. really good to hear you like my work...

Ok...first, to parallax: its medieval. They had nothing to wear BUT fur if they wanted to live through the winter.
I agree, a beard would be great.
And now, my personal irk (aside from the fact that there is no way I well EVER do something half that good): the hat's brim rises a tad too steeply. Looks almost wild-west-ish...which REALLY makes the lack of a beard kinda creepy...
Well, keep up the good work, and tell us more about Fantasy Worlde! Looks like a sweet game (if it IS a game...mmorpg?)
12-21-2001, 06:01 AM
Not a game... a simple 3D objects collection. Fantasy Worlde is a serie of CDs containing high res characters (my task except rigging), locations and objects. Will be out on February next year probably.
As it is easy task this is why I have been given so called "artistic freedom". If it was a game or film, a horde of spongers artistic directors would tell me what I am to do (kidding) ;)

i know :) i wasn't really being serious... I wear fur all the time
