I am trying to mix a Cheen shader with a displacement map, but either the displacement map is missing (when the displacement map is first in line) or the object is rendered black (the cheen shader is first in line). When using the normal C4D material, everything is fine.

Any tips people?

Hmmmm :hmm: Maybe your displ map is not showing up because you dont have enough subdivisions to accomodate it Gareth.I find myself that I dont really notice a huge difference in displ mapping unless my sub divisions are cranked way up in the hyper nurbs or on the model itself.

do you mean that you put 2 materials on one object? one cheen shader and one c4d material with only the displacement channel turned on? if so, that does not work. just try to recreate the cheen shader you want to use with channel shaders. just use a fresnel shader in the luminance channel and a fusion with 3d noise and fresnel in the bump channel. you can also use the other channels for sure if you want to. :D and there you can also use your desired displacement map. that should work. hope i could help you in some way. :)

Thanks for that guys.

Kiwi, I have made the displacement extreme, just to see the effect, but no show. I think what Derwolpertinger says is my problem. You can't mix two different shaders together.

Derwolpertinger, it is a pity you cant do mixing of shaders. Oh well.

I would say it can't be done! If you make the displaced mat see thru..then you won't see the displacemetn anyway! I should do as said and play with fresnel to achieve the similar effect...it is possible!

Heres one I made quickly, just B&W...

Nice pic in itself. More experimentation will follow. Thanks for the input.
