The modelling axis (MA) and new rotation gizmo are really nice features

A couple of questions / comments:

It seems that if I want the MA in 'free space' I have to put it in the right position *before* selecting any polys/edges/points - otherwise these get dragged with the axis when I just want to position it.
It would be really great if there was a way to drag the MA in free-space when elements are *already* selected. Is this possible?
If not, could this be programmed as a 'drag MA with modifier key' option?

Also:

It would be good to be able to 'overdrive' the percentage field for the 'selected' and 'bounds' options by typing in a higher figure. So, for example, you could have the axis say +200% from a boundary etc.

 Thanks Adam - I've got it: F10 in the demo. Brilliant.
